Thanks for stopping by the garage! BCL2148 48V CLUB CAR CHARGER Hi, everyone. Welcome, and thank you for joining us at Golf Cart Garage dot com. Today on GCGTV, we’re taking a crash course in charging your 48v Club Car golf cart. So, we’ve opened the box on this Lester Links model charger. It’s a high-quality, automatic charger with a great warranty from the best charger company in the business. It’s made for charging 48V Club Cars, equipped with an OBC or On-Board Computer, generally covering model years 1995 through about 2015.

When your batteries run out of power, they may be free of charge, but that doesn’t mean you should give them away and start over. You should let Golf Cart Garage help find you just the right charger for your cart, instead! Charging a 48V Club Car Vehicle with this round, three pin plug is a little different than charging… well, ANY other cart, like EZGO’s or Yamaha’s… or even 36V Club Cars. Chargers for all of those carts are automatic and self controlled. But chargers for 48V Club Cars are a bit different. If you see this round, 3-pin plug on a charger, it’s usually a lot like a child or a politician… no self control, and doesn’t have a brain. Chargers like this one plug into this 3-pin circular receptacle on your golf cart and then run into this OBC on the way to your batteries. This computer on the cart works like a controller or brain for the charger.

It tells the charger when to turn on and start charging. When a charge cycle completes, it’s also what tells the charger to stop charging and turn off. This type of charger is fan cooled and vented on the sides. So, it is intended to be kept inside your garage or storage area and kept protected from moisture and dust. Think of it basically like you wouldn’t leave it any place where you wouldn’t leave an open laptop computer. It’s a perfect replacement if your Club Car, Power Drive, or other 3-pin charger has failed, been stolen, died of old age, or been struck by lightning. If you’re troubleshooting a charger like this that has stopped working, sometimes trying it on someone else’s golf cart is the only way to find out if the malfunction is in the charger or in the OBC on the golf cart. Our friendly Customer Care Specialists are here to answer your questions or help find the just right charger for YOUR machine. Golf Cart Garage even has chargers that you can keep on-board the cart and hook right up to the batteries… but that’s another episode for another day.
